As digital displays become pervasive, they become increasingly prevalent with a wide range of application areas. We invite submissions that report on cutting-edge research in the broad spectrum of pervasive digital displays, from large interactive walls to wearable displays, from installations to personalised signage or mobile displays to urban visualisation. The symposium on Pervasive Displays welcomes work on all areas pertaining to digital displays including, but not limited to:

Symposium |
As a targeted topic venue, Pervasive Displays offers authors the unique opportunity to present their work to a research community focused on display technologies and research questions surrounding them, and allow them to receive feedback from experts in the field and other highly interested parties in an intimate symposium setting. Please note that the information in this call pertains to submissions to the research paper track. Information about other submission tracks (e.g., posters, demos, and videos) will be provided in subsequent calls.
Submitted papers should clearly explain the research question addressed, research method and tasks, findings or results, and contributions of the work. Papers should also provide sufficient background and related work to situate and contextualize the authors’ work within the greater body of research. Submitted papers should be a maximum of six (6) pages in length (excluding references) in the ACM SIGCHI Conference Proceedings format
Submissions should consist of original work not been previously published or concurrently under consideration for any other conference, workshop, journal, or other publication with an ISBN, ISSN or DOI number. Papers will be peer-reviewed by multiple members of a program committee consisting of experts on pervasive displays. All accepted and presented papers will be archived in the ACM Digital Library. Papers should be submitted as PDF files via the EasyChair Conference System
Note: Papers should not be anonymized for submission.
Building on the success of the previous PerDis events, we are pleased to announce the call for posters, demonstrations and arts, as well as video submissions. We invite material that reports on cutting-edge research in the broad spectrum of pervasive displays, from large interactive walls to wearable displays, from installations to personalised signage or mobile displays to urban visualisation.
The adjunct program presents an opportunity to publish late-breaking results, technical descriptions, installations, smaller research contributions, and works-in-progress in a concise format. Submissions should consist of original work that has not been previously published or concurrently under consideration for any other conference, workshop, journal, or other publication with an ISBN, ISSN or DOI number (see the exception for demonstrations and arts). All material will be reviewed by an international panel of experts in the field of pervasive displays.
Submit here.
All types of adjunct submissions should be in ACM SIGCHI format (i.e., should not use the extended abstracts format) and should not exceed 2 pages (including references). Submissions should clearly describe the research questions addressed, research methods and tasks, findings or results, and the contribution to the pervasive displays community. Abstracts should also provide sufficient background and related work to situate and contextualize the authors' contribution within the greater body of research. As the abstract may be viewed without the poster, demo/installation, or video, this should be written to stand alone as an independent submission. Accepted abstracts describing original work will be archived in the ACM Digital Library.
Submissions (and supplementary material) should not be anonymized.
You can find track-specific submission instructions below.
Accepted posters will be displayed in a designated session, providing presenters with an opportunity to engage in discussions with other attendees around their research.
Poster authors are required to submit an abstract (see above).
Accepted demonstrations and art installations will be displayed in a designated session, providing presenters with an opportunity to engage in discussions with other attendees around their research. Furthermore, we plan to feature accepted demonstrations and art installations on the PerDis Website with photos and project information for potential collaborators and sponsors.
Authors of demonstrators/art installations are required to submit an abstract (see above) as well as an additional installation information form.
Authors are encouraged to also submit an optional short (5 minute maximum) video documenting the work. Videos should not be submitted directly - only a download link should be provided (e.g. from Youtube or Vimeo, or from the authors' website).
Please note, that PerDis 2018 also considers demo and art submissions of work which has been previously presented at another conference. However, respective abstracts will not be archived in the ACM Digital Library. Please notify the demos and arts chairs if you wish not to have the extended abstract published in the digital library.
PerDis 2018 video track offers a possibility to showcase novel visions, reflections and studies that are most suited for video format and fall within the focus areas of the symposium. Each video will be shown within a suitable single-track session, preceded by short introduction from the corresponding video author, and followed by short discussion with the audience.
A video submission consists of the video and an accompanying abstract (see above). Submitted videos will be judged based on their focus, production quality, as well as the level of intellectual engagement with the symposium audience. Accepted videos will be made available in the ACM Digital Library after the conference.
Checklist for video submissions:
Videos should not be submitted directly -- only a download link should be provided (e.g. from Youtube or Vimeo, or from the authors' website).
